New Coffee Release Ethiopia Worka
Rochester’s new coffee release Ethiopia Worka hails from one of the best coffee growing regions in the world. This particular bean grows in Yirga Chefe in southern Ethiopia. The variety, terroir and unique processing method yields a fruit-forward coffee with notes of blackberry, candied ginger and pink lemonade.
Yirgacheffe Coffee
With more than 45,000 coffee farmers in Yirgacheffe alone, Ethiopia produces almost endless varieties and roasts of this gourmet coffee bean. Rochester’s beans come from the Worka Cooperative, composed of 2,540 farmers who work small plots of land. These micro-farms, usually smaller than 2 hectares, provide income to support the farmers and their families. In addition to fair wages for farmers, the garden plots also contribute to biodiversity and a healthy ecosystem because most farmers intercrop with a wide array of native fruit trees.
Versatile Coffee Bean
The Yirgacheffe bean’s unique fruity flavor can change considerably, depending on its processing and brewing technique. Coffee connoisseurs enjoy its versatility while average coffee drinkers love its mild, yet flavorful character. You may want to experiment with different brewing methods to find your favorite. Whichever you choose, we think you’ll love our new coffee release Ethiopia Worka.
Roasting and Sourcing
We roast this coffee lighter than our Rochester Original to showcase the more delicate flavors and sugars which can come across as fruity or floral.
We worked with Anthem Coffee Imports to acquire this particular coffee bean. It is also featured coffee in our Westside Blend. You can buy a bag of beans to brew at home in one of our shops or online.
Cheers!
