Juneteenth Jazz and Blues Festival

Rochester and Vine Street Crew

Banneker School Foundation’s First Annual Music Festival

We were honored to work with the Banneker School Foundation on its first annual Juneteenth Jazz & Blues Festival at English Landing Park this month. The event, a fundraiser for the Banneker School restoration project, featured local jazz and blues musicians as well as the launch of Rochester’s collaboration beer with Vine Street Brewing, Boogie Off Beat Saison.

Banneker School

Named for Benjamin Banneker, an African American leader and writer, the historic one-room brick schoolhouse was one of Missouri’s only schools where Black children could receive an education at the time. The school restoration project hopes to raise $150,000 to renovate the school and preserve Parkville’s Black heritage.

If you missed the festival, the collaboration beer, Boogie Off Beat, is still available at either Parkville or Crossroads taprooms – on draft or in cans. And if you’d like to support the Banneker School restoration project, you can find out more here.

At Rochester Brewing and Roasting, we are proud to support our local community and preserving the heritage and culture that make them unique.

Rochester Brewing and Roasting is Kansas City’s first craft beer and coffee roastery under one roof. We’ve created welcoming spaces to gather for the best of both worlds – a Kansas City craft brewery and Kansas City coffee shop – all in one place. Stop by our spacious Crossroads location or check out our charming Parkville shop, located inside two vintage train cars. We’re open day and night, so come early for the coffee, stay late for the beer!
